Shenandoah County Recycling

The following materials are accepted at the specially marked collection bins located throughout the county:

Paper (newspaper, office paper, magazines, cut up cardboard including cereal boxes), Aluminum (cans, plates, foil and smaller items), Tin/Steel Cans (all food cans and containers with tin coating), Glass (clear glass only) and Plastic (milk jugs, soda bottles, detergent containers and any plastic items marked with the recycling symbol and numbered 1 and 2). We CANNOT accept oil product containers and plastic bags.

The following items are accepted for disposal ONLY at the County Landfill:

Brush, wood products, lumber or yard waste such as leaves or grass, waste automotive products such as used oil/antifreeze, vehicle batteries, larger aluminum products, scrap metal of all kinds, appliances including refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, ranges, washers and dryers, waste tires (note: there is a fee based on the size charged for all tires regardless of the source).
