Welcome to Mount Jackson, one of many friendly small towns in Shenandoah County, Virginia. The Mount Jackson Historical District is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Mount Jackson is rich in Civil War history. We have several Civil War era buildings. The Union Church in downtown Mount Jackson was used as a hospital, and you can see where the wounded soldiers wrote their names on the wall. Likewise, Our Soldiers Cemetery has a monument listing the names of soldiers from all the Confederate states who died at the Mount Jackson Confederate Hospital. Also, near Mount Jackson, you can see the longest Covered Bridge in Virginia.
When you visit the Shenandoah Valley please stop by, say "hi", and let us welcome you with true "Southern Hospitality." If you cannot visit in person, visit us via your PC. Here you will meet our Mayor and Town Council, see the Covered Bridge, Union Church and Our Soldiers Cemetery. You can visit our schools, find good restaurants, find a place to stay, have fun at our recreational park or take a trip to nearby Shenandoah Caverns or Bryce Resort.
